Patients Before Politics - AMA's Vision for America's Health System

The AMA’s vision for America’s health system relies on our belief that the patient remain at the center of all reform efforts. We will continue to reinforce this with Congressional leaders and the administration and are committed to working with leadership in both parties to improve health insurance coverage and health care access so that patients receive timely, high-quality care, preventive services, medications and other necessary treatments. Let’s all pledge to put patients before politics.

Protect patients’ access to quality care!

Any proposed legislation must protect patients currently insured, enable low and moderate income people to secure adequate coverage and maintain Medicaid and other safety net programs.

Objective 1

Ensure that individuals currently covered do not become uninsured and take steps toward achieving coverage and access for all Americans.
